Antique charm featuring a carved face from a pale pink and white conch shell set into a brass frame. Conch shells are used to carve cameos in Italy. The pendant is dated between 1910 - 1940s, it most probably earlier due to the brass frame. The charm hangs from a new 9ct yellow gold chain.
Cameo jewellery became very popular in the early 19th century cameos features Roman women. Victorian women on the Grand Tour brought home these pieces from places such as Italy and Greece.
